2009 Henry Cabot Lodge
"WALKER AWARD"

consideration for a recipient are:
Someone who shoots
consistently high scores, occasionally over "50".
Someone is not in danger of getting better anytime soon.
Someone who would never invest in an actual "Lesson".
Someone who only plays nine holes a week.
Someone who is not in danger of buying modern equipment.
I think you get
the picture. Now if you were paying attention at the banquet,
I explained all the goodies attached to the Walker.
In case you missed
it, here is the equipment list:
(1) survival light complete with strobe and regular lights, radio,
a siren that could be heard from the deepest woods (he often goes there),
(1) St. Christopher patron Saint of Travelers, (1) dog bone to fend off the
wolves,
(1) knit Red Sox cap to keep him warm in the winter (he might still be on the
course),
(1) egg carton full of 12 new balls (enough to last him through 9 holes), and
finally, remember he might still be out by Christmas time, so Bells were
attached as well.

This was the cast of candidates
Bob Badal, Mike Cowdell, George Wallace, Oscar Jobs, & Jack Krampitz.
So how did I come up with the winner:
I asked those
golfers under "60", that's their age not golf score,
to sit down, as they were excused because they did not know any better.
Now with Bob
Badal and Oscar Jobs, remaining and we already know
that Bob won the award, Oscar Jobs is the "Runner-Up".
Oscar was told
not to despair, for if Bob Badal ever takes a lesson,
buys a subscrition to a Golf Tips magazine or
tries in earnest to improve, the trophy would shift to him.
